American Gothic: Two words that resonate as boring in the Art world. Sure, it's a vaguely fascinating picture as these two people seem upset without a cause, but upon further inspection, it's nothing more than a man and his wife. It's simple. That's why I appreciate it. The artist cut all the pretense and pseudo-genius in place of just painting a couple of people. That gets me jazzed. An artist that cuts the glitz and glam and really doesn't care about critics or anyone else. It's stripped down to its bare essentials, and I like that.
